St George and the Dragon

Inspired by Carpaccio’s George and the dragon I painted this a few years after finishing my studies in Florence. I love Carpaccios style of composition. His works are full of interesting rhythms and shapes which influenced this painting. St George as England’s patron saint is somewhat undercelebrated and this work represents the fight between good and evil. I feel it is an appropriate image for today which although violent, inspires hope in times where evil seems to have the upper hand.

Crucifixion

This was commission for a seminary in Macau, China. Jesus looks to the good thief indicating his salvation, this work was inspired by Flemish primitives.
